Karen Willenbrink-Johnsen was born in 1960 in America. While attending Ohio University, she studied glassblowing as an elective course. After graduating from Ohio University, Fine Arts - Sculpture, she hired a glassblowing assistant. Since she was lucky enough to travel for a long time, she took this opportunity to learn about natural life and used it as an inspiration for her designs. Since 1987, he has been working in different positions at "the Pilchuck Glass School" in Washington. Apart from his work at school, he continues to give seminars and lectures in the United States, Canada and internationally. Now Karen is the chief of the glassblowing team, where he and his wife Jasen. The first sculptures of the artist consist of flowers and birds. Karen still loves to make sculptures of birds of prey. She was deemed worthy of numerous awards including “Corning Award for Outstanding Student” and “the Washington State Arts Council Grant”.
